Kid Support™

Welcome to Gilda’s Club Kansas City’s Kid Support Program!

Kid Support™ works hand in hand with the other programs offered by Gilda’s Club Kansas City to help children acquire a greater sense of control over their lives – in short, to live well with cancer in the family. Accompanying these videos is a FREE box of materials with envelopes corresponding with each week’s topic. The videos provide an overview and the envelopes contain educational worksheets and activities to complete as a family. This program is available in both English and Spanish.

Kid Support is designed to:

• Provide young people with age-appropriate information about cancer and its treatment

• Address common cancer-related misconceptions

• Promote children’s discussions about what they are feeling and experiencing

• Teach children coping skills

• Promote family communication about cancer

Kid Support™ trabaja de la mano con otros programas ofrecidos por Gilda’s Club Kansas City para ayudar a los niños a adquirir un mayor sentido de control sobre sus vidas – en breves palabras, vivir bien con el cáncer en la familia. Junto con estos videos hay una caja de materiales GRATIS con sobres correspondientes a los temas de cada semana. Los videos dan una idea general y los sobres contienen hojas con material educativo y con actividades para completar en familia. Este programa está disponible en inglés y en español.

Kid Support esta diseñado para:

• Proveer a los niños(as) con información acerca del cáncer y su tratamiento apropiado a las edades que tengan

• Abordar conceptos erróneos comunes relacionados con el cáncer

• Promover la discusión en los niños(as) respecto a lo que sienten y experimentan

• Enseñar a los niños(as) habilidades para manejarlo

• Promover la comunicación familiar con respecto al cáncer
