CSC Named #6 Most Impactful Non-Profit in the Field of Cancer Care
January 09, 2012
The Cancer Support Community is honored to be recognized by Philanthropedia, a Guidestar organization, as the 6th most high-impact non-profit working in the field of cancer in the U.S. Philanthropedia surveyed 46 experts to identify 16 top non-profits -- out of 73 reviewed -- making an impact in cancer care at the national level.
Experts praised CSC for our work in providing valuable education and support programming and for being at the forefront of psychosocial research:
“There is no other organization I trust more in regards to the psychosocial impact of cancer. Their programs are very professional and compassionate.”
“The Cancer Support Community provides credible information and a safe environment for patients across the country. In addition, their leadership in survivorship research is unparalleled.”
“The Cancer Support Community has filled an important role in the cancer field by addressing psychosocial and mental health issues. They have also made valuable information available to cancer patients.”
The recent release of the Breast Cancer M.A.P. Index affirms the importance of our work supporting people impacted by cancer throughout each stage of the cancer experience.
Several experts referenced the high-quality resources CSC makes available through our Frankly Speaking About Cancer educational series. 18 informative publications are available via our online catalogue, free of charge for anyone facing a cancer diagnosis. In fact, all of our services and programs are provided at no cost to any person impacted by cancer. Through our global network of affiliates, CSC will continue to provide support services through professionally-led programs, in print, over the phone and online, so that no one has to face cancer alone.
*Philanthropedia (at Guidestar) is a nonprofit organization working to help donors make smarter donations by connecting them with some of the highest impact nonprofits in a cause. They are different from other online rating sites or donation sites because they use experts to identify high-impact nonprofits
